Bullets, Mkwate part ways

FCB Nyasa Bullets have confirmed that midfielder Mike Mkwate has left the club after the two parties agreed to terminate their association by mutual consent.

In a statement, the club said: “FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and midfielder Mike Mkwate have reached a mutual agreement regarding his departure from the club.”

The development brings an end to Mkwate’s second stint with the Blantyre-based giants.

Mkwate first joined Bullets in 2016 from Surestream FC before securing a move to South African side Polokwane City in 2021.

He returned to Bullets in 2023 and later signed a one-and-a-half-year contract extension in January 2025.

During his two spells at Bullets, the midfielder established himself as one of the club’s experienced players and was part of several successful domestic campaigns.

In the announcement about his departure, thec lub paid tribute to his service.

“FCB Nyasa Big Bullets thanks Mike for his professionalism, commitment and contribution during his time at the club and wishes him every success in the future,” reads further the club statement.

On his part, Mkwate said he was leaving Bullets full of gratitude for the club’s contribution towards the development of his career.

The player did not disclose his next destination although he has been linked with a move to Masters FC in Lilongwe where he may reunite with his Surestream FC mentor and head coach Peter Mponda.
